Enterprise: Life & Work

Enterprise: Life & Work is designed to inspire and interest young people in entrepreneurship. Young people will be taken through the process of developing a business idea, assessing what needs to happen to make it work, and through the process to actually selling a product.

Learners will be able to understand the importance of creative thinking. They will develop and present an idea for a new product or service to an audience. They will assess how an idea can be transformed into a business. They will also run a business for a profit.

Objectives

  • Gain insight into entrepreneurship.
  • Improve the use of presentation skills.
  • Demonstrate team-working and interpersonal skills.
  • Develop and improve the understanding of what’s needed for a business to succeed.

Outcomes

  • Increased awareness of entrepreneurship.
  • Understand the process involved in getting an idea from the drawing board to real life.
  • Gain confidence in team working and presentations.
  • Gain real experience of running a business.

Requirements

  • Teacher facilitated learning.
  • Projector and speakers to show videos.
  • Access to a computer, laptop or tablet with internet access for each group.
  • List of names of attendees organised into groups of five, with an even spread of abilities and talents in each group.
