Scottish Inventor’s Challenge

The Inventor’s Challenge is a one-day programme for primary schools, designed to bring Scottish inventors into the lives of Primary 5 - Primary 7 pupils. Pupils will design and create a new futuristic invention and present this back to the groups in the form of an advert and jingle.

Pupils will work collaboratively and independently, develop presentation skills, be able to generate ideas, manage time and resources, be able to pitch an idea to an audience and take an idea from concept to a fully developed presentation.

Objectives

  • An introduction to and an understanding of business.
  • Provide a space for young people to interact with business people in an engaging project.
  • Encourage entrepreneurial thinking.

Outcomes

  • Increased awareness and level of ability in business, teamwork and entrepreneurial skills.
  • More confidence in being creative and turning ideas into reality.
  • An awareness and understanding of Scotland’s place in business and enterprise.

Requirements

  • At least one person representing the partner.
  • Partner to provide materials such as old cereal boxes, cardboard boxes, etc for making the prototype.
  • Opportunities to undertake cross-year group activities.
