#YESAlumni Launches With A Bang

YE Scotland are thrilled to have launched the #YESAlumni network.

The launch event, held in the gorgeous Browns Brasserie on George Square was an opportunity for Alumni to come together, recent or not and begin to shape a network they can get behind.

After tempting our alumni with cracking canapes, we get settled in with a welcome from YE Scotland Chief Exec Geoff Leask, who was more than happy to welcome everyone to the event:

It is so rewarding to hear from our alumni about how their experience of engaging with Young Enterprise Scotland has helped to strengthen their enterprise skill set and to improve their entrepreneurial mindset which in turn is improving their career opportunities. It is so pleasing to see so many of our alumni getting involved in volunteering with us and helping to inspire the next generation.

Geoff Leask, CEO YE Scotland

The keynote speaker for the event was Craig Johnstone, founder of EduTech company Giglets - who creates educational books. Craig was able to give valuable insight to the business he has created and run as a Company Programme alumni.

The group were then asked to circulate the room and give their thoughts on specific areas of network planning. They were encouraged to suggest how often the network should meet, what they hoped to gain from the network and what content they would be interested in.

Overwhelmingly, the group decided that quarterly meetings would be the best option and that they would love to hear all about other Alumni experiences from the wildly successful to those that have been less-so. The opportunity to build a network of like-minded people and potential chances to work together were also highly suggested.

Importantly we reminded our network that we are not in isolation, as we had Jennie Cuthbertson from Young Enterprise NI along for a visit and our two international alumni, Antonia and Kristjan who made our young people aware of the opportunities we have in Europe, not just Scotland.

We hope to build on this experience to create a thriving and engaging series of meet-ups for our Alumni to continue their development.
