Young Enterprise Scotland reaches around 15,000 young people each year through our range of hands-on enterprise and entrepreneurship skills programmes in schools and colleges.
With the added value of input by business volunteers across our suite of learning activities we promote sustained and continuous learning to address employability barriers, helping young people to define their career choices, role preferences and to understand expectations and obstacles in the world of work and enterprise.
For example, our Company Programme provides a solution which responds to young people’s demand for experiences that prepare them for life beyond statutory education. The experiential learning opportunity provides an introduction to the world of work, the opportunity to acquire relevant and transferable employability skills as well as preparing them to effectively navigate the complex pathways to successful careers.
Students on the Company Programme demonstrated consistently higher gains across the eight employability competencies compared to a control group. Furthermore, our research* shows that in the two years following Company Programme completion, only 6% of Company Programme alumni are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) – this is less than half of the national 18-24 NEET rate of 13% reported by Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Our Vision is for Scotland to be a place where all young people are given the opportunity to have a rewarding future in work and life - no matter where they start their journey.
Our Mission is to inspire and equip young people, irrespective of their background, to learn, develop and reach their full potential through enterprise education.
In everything that we do, we will work with the following values: Integrity, Enthusiasm, Creativity & Collaboration.
