Claire Smith, one of our alumni, has spent the majority of her time since leaving school at 18 setting up her own business, volunteering in Africa and launching a successful innovation career.
Over a decade ago, Claire took part in our Company Programme at Monifieth High School. She and several classmates started off their business, 'Taste of Tayside' where they produced hampers. After presenting in the national finals, Claire took the business on for a further three and a half years, declaring it was the best thing she ever did. Claire received much success with her company and was awarded Young Scottish Entrepreneur of the Year when she was just 18.
Claire is currently an innovation specialist with Scottish Enterprise where she inspires the next generation of self-starters. Claire was also selected for the first Hunter Leadership Programme run by Sir Tom Hunter's Hunter Foundation and she also worked with the Clinton Hunter Initiative in New York and Malawi.
Claire commented, "If it hadn't been for Young Enterprise Scotland, my career path would have been very different."
