Our Centres of Excellence programme celebrates schools who are committing to excellence in financial education .
We want to celebrate the schools that are championing financial education. Our Centres of Excellence programme does this by recognising and rewarding schools who are committing to excellence in financial education within their own setting and beyond.
The Centres of Excellence programme is a Young Money (part of Young Enterprise UK) initiative and its development in Scotland is being led by Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) and funded by HSBC UK.
During the academic year 2020-21, three primary schools are taking a whole-school approach to developing their financial education as part of the Centres of Excellence in Financial Education programme. A primary school in Glasgow, East Kilbride and Edinburgh will each identify a dedicated Financial Champion from within their teaching staff. This teacher will lead their school through the 3-year programme supported through bespoke advice and guidance from a financial education consultant from our team at Young Enterprise Scotland.
Through the programme, the schools will have access to various quality-marked financial education resources to complement teaching, learning and staff development, and will be able to share best practice and extend development through a professional Centres of Excellence network.
With guidance from their consultant, the three schools will work towards embedding the Young Money improvement framework criteria — a set of national professional standards that aim to deliver excellence in financial education.
The schools will share their learning at local, regional and national level, engaging education leaders and practitioners across Scotland. Through the programme, they will collaborate with parents, carers and communities, to reinforce their vital part in promoting financial education and wellbeing.
Our Vision is for Scotland to be a place where all young people are given the opportunity to have a rewarding future in work and life - no matter where they start their journey.
Our Mission is to inspire and equip young people, irrespective of their background, to learn, develop and reach their full potential through enterprise education.
In everything that we do, we will work with the following values: Integrity, Enthusiasm, Creativity & Collaboration.
