It's always sad to see our Pathways Programme groups finish up their time at Rouken Glen.
In June we said goodbye to our latest group that worked with us in partnership with Cosgrove Care.
The group of young people came to us from St Oswald's and Hazelwood School between January and June and took part in our Pathways to Success.
Pathways to Success has been designed specifically for young people with additional support needs, offering four-week blocks across multiple areas including dog grooming, hair and beauty, landscaping and music and events.
As the group of young people worked through the taster sessions they were able to achieve a Level 3 SQA certificate in Preparing for Employment.
Catriona Smith, Senior Programme Executive for the Pathways Programme thinks that the programme has been really beneficial for the young people involved.
The difference in them is that we had almost 100% attendance, which is unusual for a Pathways course. And the group really grew in confidence which was amazing to see.
The group felt safe and that really helped - for example, three of the young people were scared of dogs but through encountering animals in the dog grooming taster class, all three were much happier around them - in fact one of the girls even said she'd like a dog of her own!
Young Enterprise Scotland is delighted to have worked with such a keen and enthusiastic group of young people and give their thanks to our volunteers and partner organisations who consistently deliver to the best of their ability.
Our Vision is for Scotland to be a place where all young people are given the opportunity to have a rewarding future in work and life - no matter where they start
Our Mission is to inspire & equip all young people to learn, develop and reach their full potential through enterprise.
In everything that we do, we will work with the following values: Integrity, Enthusiasm, Creativity & Collaboration.
