We're delighted to share that we have been successful in receiving funding from the RBS Skills & Opportunities funding.
We were up against another 60 organisations vying to receive a share of £140k, all aiming to deliver projects that support Scottish communities to improve their long-term prospects through financial capability and enterprise opportunities.
We were among 13 organisations shortlisted with voting opened to the public, who then had their say. Over 5,000 votes were cast to help decide on the winners - and thanks to your support we succeeded!
Our Bridge 2 Business Equalities Impact project aims to increase awareness of enterprise education for students from targeted groups, making them more confident in seeking suitable enterprise education opportunities, as well as improving the understanding of how student groups can seek inspiration and support for self-employment opportunities.
We are delighted to have this support from the Royal Bank of Scotland Skills & Opportunities Fund. This additional funding will assist us in ensuring that enterprise can become a great enabler for many people who may not have considered that route to be one for them previously. By focussing our efforts on targeted equality groups we will see how we can improve access to support for college students from a variety of backgrounds across Scotland
This much-needed support for struggling communities is an important reminder that at a time of year when thoughts turn to mince pies, mulled wine and gift-giving, the festive season is- in reality - a much more frugal affair for many.
According to the latest statistics available from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), some 4.6 million people were classed as being trapped in a vicious cycle of 'persistent' poverty in 2015.
There are thousands of grassroots community organisations across Scotland doing fantastic work to help disadvantaged communities. By working together with these organisations through the Skills & Opportunities Fund, RBS is able to help more people to improve their money or business skills.
