Young Enterprise Scotland nominated in RBS Skills & Opportunities Fund

  • YES have been nominated in the fund to recieve up to £35k on funding towards the Bridge 2 Business Equality Impact initiative

Young Enterprise Scotland have been nominated to receive a funding boost from the Royal Bank of Scotland Skills & Opportunities Fund.

We are among 13 organisations who were shortlisted from 61 applicants, and are set to receive up to £35,000if you vote for us!

Voting is open until Friday 10th October 2017 and will allow the Bridge 2 Business programme to expand its impact through working with equality groups.

Kirsty Britz, Director of Sustainable Banking at RBS has seen first-hand the difference that past winners are making in their communities:

We've helped 226 organisations through the Skills and Opportunities Fund, committing over £6m in grants. The impact of these projects, which are helping people to build new skills, get into work or start their own business, is fantastic.

When these grants are accompanied by ongoing support, they can make a huge difference to people's lives, while also helping to build stronger communities.

I encourage everyone to vote for their favourite local project and help us to help even more people and communities across the UK & Ireland."

Geoff Leask, Chief Executive of Young Enterprise Scotland, thinks that the funding from RBS will help to bridge an ever-present gap to disadvantaged individuals:

When organisations like RBS offer this kind of financial support to local communities, the impact is very strong.

This initiative is about offering support to some of the most vulnerable young people in our country. The Young Enterprise Scotland project will seek to gain an understanding of the kind of challenges facing people from the most disadvantaged backgrounds, and how these challenges impact on their ability to progress in life and in careers.

We can't offer solutions to those problems until we get to know exactly what barriers that they face.

The deadline for voting in the Skills & Opportunities fund is Friday 10th November at 12pm.
