After running a series of fringe events in collaboration with Future X, Bridge 2 Business held its final Impact Summit 2019 Fringe Event within Edinburgh College yesterday.
The intimate and inspiring event held within Edinburgh College's Sighthill campus, saw an awe inspiring line up of speakers, along with two engaging and interactive workshops ran by Bridge 2 Business.
Attendees were asked "If You Could Change The World, Where Would You Start?". They then posted their thoughts onto a board. This was followed by deep discussion of how they would like to make an impact, which later followed onto "What Impact Do I Want To Make?" workshop, delivered by Bridge 2 Business.
Our first speaker of the afternoon was Karis Gill Of Social Stories Club, also in attendance was her business partner Aayush Goyal. Karis shared her passion for social enterprise, and how that led her onto starting up her own alongside Aayush.
Social Stories Club create socially-conscious gift boxes that tell stories of social change in an exciting and colourful way. Each product in the KaleidoBox contributes towards positive social change.
Next up, Martin Murphy aka The Football Barber shared how is passion for working in care, led him onto creating his social enterprise. Martin who takes his pop up barber shop around care homes on the east coast of Scotland, takes men suffering from dementia back in time, through his football barber shop. By using football memorabilia to help dementia sufferers relive earlier life, The Football Barber uses an nostalgic experience for the elderly users, with football and music being a massive part of their visit.
The final speaker of the day, Gary Young Of The Mindful Enterprise. Gary shared his own experiences through mindfulness and how this impacting people in a positive way through his business. Attendees were inspired, and learnt how mindfulness could impact their own lives for the better!
