Social Innovators Challenge Goes Virtual

This year we launched our brand new competition - Social Innovators Challenge, in partnership with Future X's Impact Summit event!

What is the Social Innovators Challenge?

The Social Innovators Challenge is a brand new competition for Further Education students who are currently studying at a Bridge 2 Business delivery college. Bridge 2 Business currently deliver across 10 colleges in Scotland!

The competition welcomes students who have an interest in generating a new innovative idea, that could lead into an purpose led start up business. Throughout the competition, college students are welcomed to participate and enter.

What's Does The Competition Involve?

As all Scottish colleges are now closed due to the current pandemic, interested students who are keen to get learn more and enter the competition, will now be doing this remotely.

Before the pandemic, students were welcomed to a participate in a competition workshop within their college - delivered by Bridge 2 Business. The workshop would give knowledge and explore the Impact Summit main themes, as well as giving students the chance to understand more about the competition.

These three themes link into this years Impact Summit which will be held in May 2020, powered by Future X. The themes tie into sustainability, and the importance of implementing change & impact in the world today.

As part of the workshop, students used the themes to generate fresh ideas that could be developed further, but students were also given the basic essential tools to kick start their ideas, from business model canvas, marketing their businesses, video content and getting it online.

The main themes of the competition are as follows:

- Tech For Good
Technology has the potential to become one of the most effective and widespread forced for good on the planet.

- Sustainable Fashion
Tomorrow's trend is clothing that comes with a price tag we - and the planet can afford.

- Climate Change
Putting the planet before profit is not a trade - off, it's an investment plan.

Now, students looking to enter will be sent a condensed presentation, with notes and guidance to develop and submit and idea into the Social Innovators Challenge remotely, with support from Bridge 2 Business.

Prize Package

The competition winner will win £500 cash prize to begin developing their idea and will receive a start-up support package from Bridge 2 Business and our partners:

- A feature in The Herald newspaper
- Upgraded WIX website package
- Mentorship from Scottish entrepreneur (Impact Summit Speaker)
- Digital Marketing 1-2-1 mentorship from Bridge 2 Business
- Tickets to Start Up Summit 2020
- Idea showcased at virtual event Impact Summit 2020
